The third edition of the Women’s Caribbean Premier League is scheduled to start on Thursday, August 22. The final of the three-team event will be played on Friday, August 30.
The three teams are Barbados Royals Women, Guyana Amazon Warriors Women, and Trinbago Knight Riders Women. Each team will face the other two teams twice in the league stage. A total of seven matches will be played in this edition of the tournament at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad.
Trinbago Knight Riders Women won the first-ever edition of the Women’s Caribbean Premier League. Last season, Barbados Royals Women took on Guyana Amazon Warriors Women in the final. Barbados Royals won the match by eight runs after posting a total of 169 runs for the loss of seven wickets on the board. Hayley Matthews won the Player of the Match award. Sophie Devine of Guyana Amazon Warriors won the Player of the Match award.
Shreyanka Patil became the first Indian player to play in the Women’s Caribbean Premier League last season. She represented Guyana Amazon Warriors. Patil has been released by the Guyana Amazon Warriors for this season. Jemimah Rodrigues and Shikha Pandey are the two Indian players who will be playing in this edition of the Women’s Caribbean Premier League. Both the players are a part of the Trinbago Knight Riders.
