The third season of the Maharaja Trophy (KSCA T20 2024) will commence on Thursday, August 15. The first match will pit the Bengaluru Blasters against the Gulbarga Mystics. A total of 33 games will be held at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, with the final match scheduled for September 1.

The six teams to compete for the championship are the Bengaluru Blasters, Gulbarga Mystics, Shivamogga Lions, Mysore Warriors, Mangalore Dragons, and defending champions the Hubli Tigers. Top four teams will qualify for the semi-finals.

The 2024 Maharaja Trophy will see some big names in action, including Mayank Agarwal, Manish Pandey, Prasidh Krishna, and Karun Nair.

Several local Karnataka players will get a chance to showcase their names. Samit Dravid, the son of former Indian head coach Rahul Dravid, is a name that will catch everyone's attention. The 18-year-old will represent the Mysore Warriors.

#1 Vijaykumar Vyshak

The 27-year-old pacer Vijaykumar Vyshak will represent the Gulbarga Mystics in the Maharaja Trophy 2024. The right-arm bowler will serve as Devdutt Padikkal’s deputy. In the 2023 season, Vijaykumar took nine wickets in 11 games.

He was also part of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the 2024 IPL. The Karnataka cricketer played four games and took four wickets. Now, with the added responsibility of being the vice-captain and having experience playing on the biggest stage, Vijaykumar Vyshak will be looking to bring glory to the Gulbarga Mystics for the second time.


#2 Vidwath Kaverappa

Vidwath Kaverappa is another young and promising prospect in Indian cricket. The 25-year-old made his IPL debut in the 2024 season for the Punjab Kings in a game against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He took two wickets in his spell of four overs and conceded 36 runs.

Vidwath will play for the Hubli Tigers. In the 2023 season, he took 10 wickets in nine games with an economy of 7.70. The right-arm pacer has an impressive first-class record, picking up 80 wickets in 20 matches. The Karnataka pacer will be looking to continue his good form and do wonders for the defending champions.


#3 L Manvanth Kumar

The third name on the list is L Manvanth Kumar. The 20-year-old pacer will represent the Hubli Tigers. Manvanth played a massive role in Hubli’s success in the 2023 season. The pacer was the leading wicket-taker in the tournament, picking up 22 wickets in 12 games with an economy of 7.82.

He also took a fifer against the Mangalore Dragons. The young player will be hoping to continue his great record in the coming season as well.


#4 Monish Reddy

Another player who made his name in the Maharaja Trophy 2023 was Monish Reddy. The 21-year-old pacer remained in the seventh spot on the list of leading wicket-takers.

He bagged 12 wickets in 11 games, playing a crucial role in the success of the Mysore Warriors. However, for the 2024 season, Monish will be seen in action for the 2022 season champions, the Gulbarga Mystics.


#5 Abhilash Shetty

The last player on the list is Abhilash Shetty. The 26-year-old left-arm pacer was the second-highest wicket-taker in the 2023 season of Maharaja Trophy. He took 22 wickets in 11 games for the Gulbarga Mystics.

In the 2024 season, he will be seen playing for Mangalore Drgaons, which has the likes of Shreyas Gopal. Abhilash will be hoping for a memorable season with his new franchise.
