TNPL 2024: How did the IPL players fare in Nellai Royal Kings vs Trichy Grand Cholas, Match 18? Ft. Arun Karthik and Sanjay Yadav

On Saturday, July 20, Trichy Grand Cholas clashed against Nellai Royal Kings in the 18th match of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2024 at the Indian Cement Company Ground, Tirunelveli.

Trichy Grand Cholas won the toss and elected to field first. The Kings scored 177/9 in the allocated 20 overs. Arun Karthik played a captain's knock with 84 valuable runs from 51 balls, smashing 10 fours and two sixes.

Rithik Easwaran contributed with a composed 29 off 23 balls, while Sonu Yadav provided valuable support with 17 off nine deliveries. Saravana Kumar took four wickets for 30 runs in four wickets. Athisayaraj Davidson and Anthony Dhas took two wickets each, while Sanjay Yadav claimed one wicket.

On the other hand, Trichy Grand Cholas had a good start but lost wickets at regular intervals. They eventually built up a partnership with Jafar Jamal and Shyam Sundar scoring 39 and 31, respectively. Sanjay Yadav contributed to the side with his 16-ball 23 knock, and R Rajkumar played a cameo of 31* from 13 balls. Trichy Grand Cholas won the game with four wickets and three balls remaining.

Arun Karthik (Nellai Royal Kings)

Arun Karthik, the seasoned former batter of Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, initially struggled in the season but bounced back impressively in the last game with 47 runs off 38 balls. Building on this momentum, he showcased exceptional form by amassing 84 runs off 51 deliveries against Trichy.


Sanjay Yadav (Trichy Grand Cholas)

Sanjay Yadav has represented multiple franchises in the IPL, including Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Sunrisers Hyderabad. He has been showing a consistent performance from his batting scoring 60, 68, 41, and now 23 runs. He is also currently the batter with the most runs in the ongoing TNPL season.


Sonu Yadav (Nellai Royal Kings)

Sonu Yadav was a part of the RCB team in the 2023 edition and joined the NRK team for the TNPL 2024 edition. He scored 17 runs off nine balls with two sixes and conceded 33 runs in his four overs.
