TNPL 2024: How did the IPL players fare in Nellai Royal Kings vs IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans, Match 23? Ft. Arun Karthik and T Natarajan

On Wednesday, July 24, Nellai Royal Kings faced IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans in the 23rd encounter of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2024 at the Indian Cement Company Ground, Tirunelveli.

Nellai Royal Kings won the toss and elected to field first. IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans played brilliantly to reach 189/8. The batters were explosive and smashed the ball all around the park.

Amit Sathvik was dismissed on the first delivery of the innings. However, Tushar Raheja quickly turned the tide with a blistering innings, scoring 41 runs off just 13 balls, featuring five fours and three sixes. Radhakrishnan made a significant contribution, scoring 50 runs from 35 deliveries. Mohamed Ali and S Ganesh provided valuable cameos, accumulating 35 runs from 29 balls and 36 runs from 25 balls, respectively.

Ragupathy Silambarasan was the standout bowler for the Tamizhans with figures of 3/37. Four bowlers, Sonu Yadav, Emmanuel Cherain, NS Harish, and Gokulmoorthi, took one wicket each.

In response, Nellai Royal Kings had a similar start, losing two wickets for 16 runs. However, captain Arun Karthik stabilized their innings with a 51-run knock off 36 deliveries. After his dismissal, Rithik Easwaran (59 off 35) and Sonu Yadav (40 off 23) took the game deep

However, Nellai Royal Kings fell five runs short of the target as they lost five wickets in the last 2.2 overs. T Natrajan scalped a four-fer and Ramalingam Rohit took three wickets.

Arun Karthik (Nellai Royal Kings)

Arun Karthik, the seasoned former batter of Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, scored 47 and 84 in his previous two outings. On Wednesday, he played a vital knock of 51 off 36 balls. He is now the second in the most runs chart with 215 runs from six games at an average of 43.00.


Sonu Yadav (Nellai Royal Kings)

Sonu Yadav was a part of RCB team in 2023. He joined Nellai Royal Kings this year and has bloomed colors with his all-round skills. He has scored 103 runs from five innings and has taken seven wickets in the tournament. His 40-run knock off 23 balls was extremely valuable, but couldn't guide his team to the win.


T Natarajan (IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans)

T Natarajan plays for the Sunrisers Hyderabad and has shown his skills with the ball. He took four wickets in Wednesday’s game and has nine wickets overall this season.


Sai Kishore (IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans)

Sai Kishore plays for Gujarat Titans in the IPL and has also played for CSK. He was dismissed for two runs off five deliveries against the Royal Kings and recorded figures of 1/3 in one over.
