The Hundred Men’s and Women’s competition are scheduled to start on Tuesday, July 23. Oval Invincibles and Birmingham Phoenix will lock horns in the opening game of the men’s competition at the Kennington Oval. The competitions start with the same teams at the same venue. The women’s match will be followed by the men’s game.
Both the finals are scheduled to take place on Sunday, August 18 at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. Apart from the Invincible and the Phoenix, there are six more teams in the tournament, namely Welsh Fire, Southern Brave, Trent Rockets, Northern Superchargers, London Spirit, and Manchester Originals.
The Invincibles are the defending champions in the men’s competition after they beat the Originals by 14 runs in the final last year. Tom Curran became the Player of the Match after he scored an unbeaten 67 off 34 balls and picked up the crucial wicket of Phil Salt.
The Brave won the women’s Hundred last year after beating the Superchargers by 34 runs at the Home of Cricket in London. After putting up a decent score of 139 for six on the board, the Brave bowled their opponents out for 105 in 94 balls.
Danni Wyatt won the Player of the Match award after she scored 59 runs off 38 balls. Lauren Bell and Kalea Moore accounted for three scalps each and helped the Brave finish their campaign in the best possible manner.
Given the quality of players in all the teams across both competitions, the upcoming tournaments are going to be an absolute cracker.
