Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is all set to host the Afghanistan A side for a five-match unofficial One Day series and an unofficial Test. The five-match series will start on April 28, Sunday. Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota will host all the series games.
Most recently, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) announced the nation’s A squad. The 15-member squad arrived in Sri Lanka on April 25, Thursday. Other four One Day matches are scheduled to be played on April 30, May 3, May 5, and May 7.
After the conclusion of the One Day matches, a one-off four-day match is slated to be held from May 11 to May 14. Keeper-batter Ikram Alikhil will lead the Afghanistan A side.
Naseeb Khan, CEO of ACB, highlighted the importance of giving ample exposure to the A side, which serves as the backup for the senior national team.
“The ACB remains committed to facilitating as much exposure as possible for the AfghanAtalan (A team) squad, which comprises our talented young cricketers,” ACB CEO Naseeb Khan stated.
On the other hand, the Sri Lanka A team will be captained by Sahan Arachchige. SLC announced the 13-member strong squad for the One Day series. Ahan Wickramasinghe, Nuwanidu Fernando, Dushan Hemantha, and Chamika Gunaratne are some of the players part of the squad.
