The Rajasthan Royals (RR) completed a double over the Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2024 with a comfortable nine-wicket victory at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium. Yashasvi Jaiswal's century and Sandeep Sharma's five-wicket haul helped the Royals register their seventh win of the tournament.

Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to bat first at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium. A splendid half-century from Tilak Varma guided MI to 179/9 in 20 overs. In reply, Jaiswal's ton and thirties from Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson inspired RR to a nine-wicket victory.

The Mumbai Indians got off to a terrible start as the Rajasthan Royals reduced them to 20/3 in the fourth over. Mohammad Nabi also lost his wicket after the score crossed 50. Youngsters Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera then stitched up a 99-run partnership for MI to take the score close to 150.

It seemed like MI would reach 185-190, but Sandeep Sharma's five-wicket haul kept them down to 179/9 in 20 overs. Chasing 180, Rajasthan Royals were in a commanding position as Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal added 74 runs in eight overs. Jaiswal then built an unbeaten 109-run second-wicket partnership with Sanju Samson to seal the deal for RR.

Piyush Chawla was the only bowler who could take a wicket for MI. The rest of the MI bowlers let the fans down with their disappointing showing.
