Royal London Cup 2024 is the 10th season of the tournament and will start on Wednesday, July 24, and conclude on Sunday, September 22. It is the List A tournament organized by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
A total of 18 teams will take part in the competition and are divided in two groups of nine teams each.
Here’s how teams are divided:
Group A: Lancashire, Worcestershire, Kent, Middlesex, Durham, Hampshire, Northamptonshire, Somerset, Derbyshire
Group B: Essex, Leicestershire, Warwickshire, Surrey, Glamorgan, Nottinghamshire, Yorkshire, Gloucestershire, Sussex
Leicestershire are the defending champions and won the Royal London Cup in 2023. They defeated Sussex in the final by one wicket after chasing down the target of 276 runs in 49 overs.
A total of 77 matches will be played in the tournament. The final will be played at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham.
The first two teams placed in both groups will qualify directly for the semi-finals. The next two teams from both groups will make it to the quarter-finals. The winners of the quarter-finals will qualify for the semi-finals and will face the top-placed teams. The winners of the semi-finals will make it to the final, which will be played on Sunday, September 22.
