Rakshabandhan, which is being celebrated on Monday, August 19, is an extremely important festival in India, which celebrates the eternal bond between a sister and her brother.

It is not particularly restricted to a brother and his sister, and can be celebrated by siblings of all genders, with traditionally the sister tying a rakhi - a bracelet designed with intricacies - across the wrist of her brother.

The latter, in turn, promises to always protect, care, respect and shower her with love. Indian cricketers too enjoy celebrating this festival with their siblings and relish the day on which they can enjoy being in the presence of their loved ones.

In this listicle, we take a look at the top five old pictures of India's star cricketers with their siblings.

#1 Virat Kohli

Former India captain Virat Kohli is known to share a close bond with his sister Bhawna Kohli Dhingra and often makes it home in time for the festival of Rakshabandhan.

However, his busy schedule does not quite permit him to visit Bhawna for the festival these days, but he maintains a good relationship with her. She was known for supporting Kohli through the struggles he faced in his early years and giving him the courage to pursue his passion.

In this old picture, the two siblings - when they were children - are seen cutting a cake on Kohli's birthday with their mother looking on.

#2 Rishabh Pant

Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who made a stunning comeback into the national team earlier this year after a near-fatal road accident in December 2022, shares a tight-knit bond with his sister Sakshi.

The two are often seen sharing pictures of each other on their social media platforms, with Sakshi beaming with pride every time she ties a rakhi on Rishabh's wrist. In this picture, the two siblings are seen posing with their mother.

#3 Ravindra Jadeja

Star India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who called it quits from T20Is after the final of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup earlier this year, is known to be an extremely loving and caring brother.

His sister Naina, who also manages a lot of his off-field ventures such as his restaurant, has been a strong pillar of support for him ever since their mother died in a fire accident in 2005.

"Jaddu was just 16-17 when we lost our mother. On the 12th day of her mourning period, we got a letter from the BCCI which asked him to join the camp for the India U-19 team for the junior World Cup. I decided to make him a mentally tough person since then itself.
"I asked him to play in the World Cup because our mother badly wanted him to play for India. He went there and did well (10 wickets in six [email protected]), and never looked back,” she had earlier said about how the incident made Jadeja grow up via cricket times.

#4 Jasprit Bumrah

Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah is also known to share an intimate bond with his sister Juhika, and often posts about her on his social media handles. Bumrah does not miss the opportunity to connect with her on Rakshabandhan either.

In this old pic of theirs posted by Bumrah on his X account, the two siblings are seen clicking a selfie. This was posted by the ace seamer on the occasion of Juhika's birthday, which falls on July 2.

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar, who was one of the greatest batters the sport has seen, was clicked with his sister Kavita, who went on to marry his friend, colleague and teammate GR Vishwanath.

Gavaskar is henceforth Vishwanath's brother-in-law and the two families share a tight-knit relationship. Gavaskar and Kavita are known to be extremely close and still exchange rakhis and gifts with each other on Rakshabandhan.
