Pakistan are all set to take on Bangladesh in a short two-match Test series at home. Both the games will be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The first match will be held from August 21 to August 25, while the second game will be played from August 30 to September 3. The second Test was initially scheduled to be held in Karachi but had to be moved owing to the ongoing construction work.

The Bangladesh cricket team will be led by Najmul Hossain Shanto and feature experienced hands like Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, Litton Kumer Das, and Taskin Ahmed. Opener Mahmudul Hasan, however, has been ruled out of the opening Test due to a groin injury. The Bangladesh team is hopeful of him recovering in time for the second Test match.

Pakistan will be led by Shan Masood, while pacer Naseem Shah has made a comeback to the Test side for the first time in more than a year. He had been battling a few injuries in the interim. Saud Shakeel has been named vice-captain, taking over from Shaheen Afridi.

#1 Pakistan have never lost a Test against Bangladesh

Pakistan have never lost a Test match to Bangladesh. The two sides have so far clashed 13 times in the red-ball format, with Pakistan winning 12 of those games. One Test between the two sides ended in a draw.


#2 Only once has a team scored 600-plus in an innings

There has only been one instance of a 600-plus score being registered in a Test match between the two countries. Pakistan notched up 628 in Khulna in April 2015. Bangladesh's highest score against Pakistan is 555-6, which was registered in the same Test match in Khulna.


#3 Bangladesh have been bowled out under 100 twice

Bangladesh have been bowled out for a score of less than 100 twice in Test matches against Pakistan. They were all out for 87 in Mirpur in December 2021, which is a record for the lowest total in Pakistan-Bangladesh Tests.

Bangladesh were also all out for 96 against Pakistan in Peshawar in August 2003. Pakistan's lowest total against Bangladesh was 175 in Multan in September 2003.


#4 Pakistan have hammered Bangladesh by an innings margin six times

Out of their 12 wins, Pakistan have thumped Bangladesh by an innings margin six times. Their largest victory margin of an innings & 264 runs was registered in Multan in August 2001. They also won by an innings & 184 runs in Chattogram in December 2011 and by an innings & 178 runs in Dhaka in January 2002.


#5 Two batters have scored 600-plus runs in Pakistan vs Bangladesh Tests

Two batters have notched up more than 600 runs in Test matches between the two Asian nations - both from Pakistan. Mohammad Hafeez is the leading run-getter in Pakistan vs Bangladesh Tests. In seven matches, he has scored 650 runs at an average of 59.09. Former Pakistan captain Younis Khan scored 638 runs in seven games, averaging 79.75.


#6 There have been five double-hundreds in Pakistan vs Bangladesh Tests

A total of five double hundreds have been registered so far in Pakistan vs Bangladesh Test matches. Azhar Ali's 226 in Mirpur in May 2015 is the highest individual score in Tests between the two nations.

Azhar is followed by Hafeez, who scored 224 in Khulna in April 2015. Bangladesh's Tamim Iqbal hit 206 in the same Test. Further, Mohammad Yousuf scored 204* in Chattogram in January 2002, while Younis scored 200* in Chattogram in December 2011.


#7 Two batters jointly hold the record for most hundreds in Pakistan vs Bangladesh Test matches

Younis and Hafeez jointly hold the record for scoring the most hundreds in Pakistan vs Bangladesh Tests. Both notched up three tons each from seven Tests. Abdul Razzaq, Asad Shafiq, Yasir Hameed, Mohammad Yousuf, Inzamam-ul-Haq, and Taufeeq Umar hit two centuries each.


#8 Habibul Bashar holds the record for having scored the most runs in a Pakistan-Bangladesh Test series

Former Bangladesh captain Habibul Bashar holds the record for having scored the most runs in a Test series between Pakistan and Bangladesh. During Bangladesh's tour of Pakistan in 2003, he notched up 379 runs in three Tests at an average of 63.16, with one hundred and three fifties.

Hammed scored 373 runs in the same series, averaging 74.60, with two hundreds.


#9 Danish Kaneria is the leading wicket-taker in the Pakistan-Bangladesh Tests

Former leg-spinner Danish Kaneria is the leading wicket-taker in Test matches between Pakistan and Bangladesh. He played five matches and picked up 34 wickets at an average of 16.41, with three five-fers.


#10 Only one bowler has claimed eight wickets in an innings in the Pakistan-Bangladesh Tests

There has only been one instance of a bowler claiming eight wickets in an innings in a Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh. Pakistan's off-spinner Sajid Khan starred with 8-42 from 15 overs in Mirpur in December 2021.

Two bowlers have claimed seven-wicket hauls in Test matches between the two Asian countries. Kaneria picked up 7-77 in Dhaka in January 2002, while Taijul Islam claimed 7-116 in Chattogram in November 2021.
