The Zim Afro T10 is back with its second edition in 2024. The tournament, organized by Zimbabwe Cricket in collaboration with T Ten Global, is set to commence on Saturday, September 21, 2024.
The tournament will showcase an impressive lineup of cricketing talent, including Australian star David Warner, who will captain the Bulawayo Braves Jaguars. Leading the other teams in the tournament are notable captains: Sikandar Raza for the Joburg Bangla Tigers, Thisara Perera for NYS Lagos, Dasun Shanaka for Harare Bolts, and Rohan Mustafa for Cape Town Samp Army. Yasir Shah will captain the Durban Wolves.
The Durban team emerged victorious in the inaugural edition of the tournament. Durban Wolves and Joburg Bangla Tigers will play the first game of the Zim Afro T10 2024 on Saturday.
This year's tournament introduces the Bangla Tigers, expanding the competition to six teams. The action will take place at the Harare Sports Club in Harare, featuring a total of 25 matches, including the playoffs. Each team will play seven matches in the league phase, after which the top four teams will advance to the playoff stage.
Qualifier 1 is scheduled for September 28 at 3 PM local time, where the top two teams from the league will compete for a spot in the final. This will be followed by an Eliminator, featuring teams ranked three and four, which will determine who faces the loser of Qualifier 1 in Qualifier 2. The grand final is set for 5:30 PM local time on September 29.
The Zim Afro T10 2024 features standout players who are set to make an impact throughout the tournament. Leading the Bulawayo Braves Jaguars is David Warner, renowned for his explosive batting. The Cape Town Samp Army boasts talents like Haider Ali and David Willey, while the Harare Bolts will rely on Dasun Shanaka and James Neesham for all-round contributions.
