Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar shared an endearing birthday wish for his daughter Sara on X on Saturday, October 12. While posting a couple of pictures of the birthday girl, he stated that he was lucky to have Sara in his life.
Tendulkar, one of cricket's all-time greats, married Anjali Mehta in May 1995. The couple's daughter Sara was born in October 1997, while son Arjun was born in September 1999.
On the special occasion of Sara's 27th birthday on October 12, Tendulkar posted two pictures of her daughter from different phases of her life. One of them is from when she was a toddler, while the second is a more recent time. While posting the pictures, the former India captain shared an emotional note and wrote:
"From a tiny wonder to a wonderful woman, you’ve always made me wonder how lucky I am to have you in my life. You make my heart swell with love each day. Happy birthday, Sara! 🥰."
Unlike her father, Sara hasn't chosen a career in sports and is looking to make a name in modeling. Arjun, meanwhile, is a cricketer. The 25-year-old has played 13 first-class matches, 15 List A games and 21 T0s so far.
Sachin Tendulkar set to return to the cricket field in the International Masters League
While Tendulkar (51) retired from cricket in November 2013, he keeps making appearances on the field, participating in T20 leagues. He will next be seen in action leading India in the upcoming International Masters League. The Master Blaster is the ambassador of the tournament, which will be played in India from November 17 to December 8.
Apart from Tendulkar, former cricket greats Jacques Kallis, Brian Lara and Shane Watson, among others, will also be part of the event, representing their respective nations. Speaking about the International Masters League, Tendulkar said during the launch event:
"The action on the field will no doubt be competitive and exciting. All the players are enthused at the prospect of playing the IML at multiple venues. It's an opportunity to inspire the next generation while celebrating the sport that we all love."
Meanwhile, another former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has been appointed as the commissioner of the International Masters League.
