West Indies Champions and England Champions met in the 12th World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2024 match at County Ground in Northampton on Tuesday, July 9.

Pakistan Champions continue to sit at the pole position in the WCL T20 2024 with four wins in as many games. They were the first team to qualify for the playoffs.

Australia and India retained their second and third positions with three and two victories each from four games respectively. While Australia qualified for the playoffs with an NRR of +2.344, India are yet to do so. West Indies defeated England by five wickets and switched places on Tuesday. They hold the fourth position in the points table with a negative NRR of -1.020.

On the other hand, England dropped from fourth to fifth with four losses in five games. South Africa continue to languish at the bottom of the points table with three losses in a row.


Ian Bells 97 goes in vain as Chadwick Walton guides West Indies to second win

Kevin Pietersen’s scored 42 off 19 while Ian Bell registered an outstanding 97-run knock from 64 deliveries, featuring 15 boundaries. Their knocks along with Ravi Bopara’s half-century helped England set a massive 210-run target.

Samuel Badree, Jerome Taylor, Ashley Nurse, and Daren Sammy picked up one wicket each for the West Indies. Tino Best was the most expensive bowler, conceding 43 runs in three overs.

In reply, despite losing Chris Gayle and Dwayne Smith within seven overs, the Windies chased the target in 19.3 overs. Chadwick Walton struck an excellent match-winning knock of 85 runs from 42 balls while Nurse added 47 not out off 25. Jason Mohammed also scored 32 off 24 in the middle to keep the run rate in check.

Samit Patel picked up two wickets for England while Ryan Jay Sidebottom, Usman Afzaal, and Bopara took one each. Walton was named the Player of the Match for a half-century.
