On Wednesday, July 10, 2024, West Indies Champions locked horns with Australia Champions in the 12th match of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2024 at County Ground in Northampton. Australia Champions won their fourth game in a row against the West Indies Champions to top the World Championship of Legends T20 points table. They have a net run rate of 2.464.

Pakistan Champions descended to the second position with four wins in five games. They were the first team to qualify for the playoffs. However, they lost their last league-stage game against South Africa Champions by nine wickets.

India Champions retained their third position with two victories from four games. Meanwhile, West Indies finished fourth with three losses and two wins. The two teams have a negative NRR of -0.826 and -1.295, respectively.

England Champions became the first team to get eliminated from the playoffs race. On the other hand, South Africa Champions still have the hope of qualifying for the playoffs if they beat India Champions in their last league-stage game by a heavy margin.


Ben Dunk’s century propels Australia to the top of the table

Australia batted first and posted a 274-run target for the loss of seven wickets. Ben Dunk struck an excellent 35-ball century, featuring 12 fours and seven sixes. Daniel Christian backed him with a 35-ball 99-run knock, comprising 19 boundaries while Shaun Marsh and Ben Cutting added 22 runs each.

Rayad Emrit was the pick of the West Indies bowlers with a three-wicket haul while Tino Best, Jason Mohammed and Ashley Nurse picked up one wicket apiece.

In reply, Dwayne Smith scored a 64-run knock, striking at 160 along with Jonathan Carter's 27 off 12. However, Ashley Nurse’s 36-ball 70-run knock and Daren Sammy’s 33 went in vain as they fell short by 55 runs.

Brett Lee, the Australian Champions captain, took two wickets while the rest of the bowlers picked up one each except Ben Laughlin.
