On Thursday, July 4, South Africa Champions and England Champions locked horns in the third match of the World Championship of Legends 2024. Pakistan Champions and West Indies Champions met in the tournament's fourth match.

Pakistan won their second consecutive game against West Indies by 29 runs and secured the first position on the leaderboard with a net run rate of +0.856.

After a three-wicket loss against India, England defeated South Africa in the second game by nine wickets. They are now ranked second in the table with an NRR of +2.005.

India descended from the top to the third position with two points in their account.

Australia moved from fifth to fourth while West Indies (fifth) and South Africa (sixth) sit at the bottom of the table after their respective losses on Thursday.

South Africa batted first and were bundled out for 137 in 19.2 overs thanks to three-wicket hauls from Owais Shah and Ravi Bopara of England. Ajmal Shahzad also picked up two wickets while Chris Schofield and Ryan Sidebottom took one apiece.

Herschelle Gibbs (26) top-scored for South Africa, followed by Ryan McLaren (22) and Rory Kleinveldt (21).

In reply, England chased the target in 11 overs courtesy of Phil Mustard’s match-winning knock of 84 runs from 35 balls and skipper Kevin Pietersen’s 11-ball 28-run knock. Kleinveldt picked up the solitary wicket of Pietersen for South Africa.

In the second game, Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first. Sharjeel Khan (35) and Sohaib Maqsood (22) put together a solid 57-run stand for the second wicket, followed by a half-century from Shoaib Malik. Aamer Yamin scored an unbeaten 29 off 11 balls to propel the team to 194/8 in 20 overs.

Ashley Nurse spearheaded the West Indies bowling attack with three wickets, while Fidel Edwards picked up two. Jerome Taylor, Samuel Badree, and Sulieman Benn each took a wicket but were costly in their spells.

While chasing 194, Dwayne Smith top-scored for the West Indies with 65 off 46 balls, and Jonathan Carter added 34. However, the rest of the batters failed to make an impact, and the team was restricted to 165/9, resulting in a 29-run defeat.

Sohail Tanvir was the wrecker-in-chief with a four-wicket haul while Shahid Afridi took three wickets and Wahab Riaz took two.
