Australia defeated South Africa in the fifth match of the World Championship of Legends 2024 by 104 runs. Australia had posted a total of 230 runs for the loss of five wickets on the board.

Aaron Finch and Shaun Marsh set the tone as Australia crush South Africa

South Africa won the toss and elected to bowl. Aaron Finch and Shaun Marsh added 85 runs for the first wicket in seven overs. Both the batters scored 49 runs each. Australia lost the second wicket for 128 runs. They lost three quick wickets after crossing the 150-run mark. Ben Dunk who came out to bat in number three position, scored 47 runs off just 21 deliveries.

Ben Cutting and Tim Paine had a partnership of 74 runs for the sixth wicket. This collective batting effort helped Australia post a total of 230 runs for the loss of five wickets. JP Duminy and Ryan McLaren took two wickets each for South Africa.

South Africa didn’t have a decent outing with the bat. Only three batters managed to make a double-digit score for the team. McLaren was the highest scorer and made 36 runs off 31 deliveries.

South Africa finished with 126 runs for the loss of nine wickets and lost the match by 104 runs. Nathan Coulter-Nile and Xavier Doherty took three wickets each for Australia.
