The 11th match of the 2024 World Champions of Legends saw the India Champions take on the Australia Champions on Monday, July 8.

The India Champions won the toss and elected to field first against the Australia Champions at the County Ground, Northampton.

Shaun Marsh gave Australia the start they wanted, scoring 41 off just 27 deliveries at a stupendous strike rate of 151.85. Marsh’s innings was laced with seven boundaries and one maximum. Aaron Finch, who has been enjoying a great run of form this season was dismissed after scoring 7 off 10 deliveries.

Ben Dunk (17 off 13) and Callum Ferguson (26 off 22) were the next two batters to depart, but Daniel Christian's 69 off 33 deliveries stole the show as his contribution propelled Australia to a good score. Batting at a strike rate of 209.09, Christian hit three fours and seven towering sixes, while Ben Cuttins’s 13-ball 24 helped Australia post 199/5 in 20 overs. Dhawal Kulkarni ended his spell with two wickets, along with the likes of RP Singh.

Chasing 200, the Indian top order got off to a shaky start with no significant contributors. Batting at No. 5, Yusuf Pathan was the only shining light in the India Champions’ batting lineup, as he scored 78 off just 48 deliveries. In the end, the target of 200 proved a bit much for the India Champions as Australia won the game by 23 runs.

Australia’s Aaron Finch continues to be on top of the highest run-getters chart with 180 runs in four matches at a strike rate of 183.67.

Pakistan’s Sohaib Maqsood is in the second spot with 158 runs in four matches, while his teammate Shoaib Malik occupies the third position with 153 runs at a batting average of 51.

Shaun Marsh’s tally of 148 runs in four games places him in the fourth position, while England Champions opener Phil Mustard is fifth on the highest run-getters leaderboard. Sharjeel Khan and Ian Bell have both crossed the 130-run mark this season and see themselves in the sixth and seventh positions, respectively.

Robin Utthappa, Gurkeerat Singh Mann, and Ben Dunk have scored 127, 120, and 110 runs, respectively, and they occupy the eighth, ninth, and tenth positions, respectively.

Nathan Coulter-Nile displaces Brett Lee from the top to the second position with seven wickets to his name. Brett Lee too has seven wickets in this edition of World Champions of Legends, but a slightly better economy rate and average see Coulter Nile in the first position while Brett occupies the number two spot.

England’s Chris Schofield has claimed seven wickets too and is in the third position with a bowling average of 23.14.

The Pakistani trio of Sohail Tanvir, Wahab Riaz, and Shoaib Malik have all claimed six wickets each this season, and they occupy fourth, fifth and sixth place, respectively.

With five wickets each this season, Ravi Bopara, Shahid Afridi, Xavier Doherty, and Owais Shah round off the top ten highest wicket-takers list, cementing the seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth positions, respectively.
