Women's T20 World Cup 2024 Most Wickets after Semi Final 2 - West Indies vs New Zealand

West Indies took on New Zealand in the second semifinal of the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 on Friday, October 18. The Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah hosted the match.

New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first, with Suzie Bates (26) and Georgia Plimmer (33) providing a fine start. However, the middle order faltered as wickets kept falling at regular intervals. Isabelle Gaze scored 20* off 14 and helped her side post 128 runs for the loss of nine wickets.

Deandra Dottin was the key bowler for the Windies, securing a four-wicket haul. Afy Fletcher picked up two wickets, while Karishma Ramaharack and Aaliyah Allyene took one apiece.

In reply, West Indies made a sluggish start, losing two wickets inside the powerplay. Dottin 33 (22) and Zaida James 14 (8) provided a glimpse of hope in the last five overs. However, New Zealand’s bowling attack helped the White Ferns secure an eight-run victory.

Eden Carson chipped in three wickets for New Zealand, while Amelia Kerr picked up two.

Laura Wolvaardt (190), Tazmin Brits (170), Danni Wyatt (151), Harmanpreet Kaur (150), and Beth Mooney (144) remained in the top five spots after the second semi-final.

Meanwhile, Georgia Plimmer (141) moved from ninth to sixth, Sobhana Mostary (135), Ellyse Perry (132), and Anneke Bosch (124) slipped to the next three spots, respectively.

Deandra Dottin (120) jumped to the 10th spot after scoring 33 runs in the previous game.

Kiwi all-rounder Amelia Kerr picked up two wickets and remained atop the wicket-taking charts with 12 scalps. Nonkululeko Mlaba and Afy Fletcher jointly occupy the second spot with 10 wickets each.

Annabel Sutherland slipped to fourth with nine wickets while Megan Schutt and Eden Carson are ranked in the next two spots, respectively, with eight wickets each.

Arundhati Reddy, Renuka Singh, Rosemary Mair, and Sophie Molineux occupy the next four spots, respectively, with seven wickets apiece.
