New Zealand took on Sri Lanka in the 15th match of the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday, October 12. Already eliminated after three losses, Sri Lanka opted to bat first with the aim to end the tournament on a high note.
On a slow wicket, they posted 115/5 with skipper Chamari Athapaththu top-scoring with 35 (41). Amelia Kerr and Leigh Kasperek shone with the ball with two wickets each while Eden Carson got one.
It was an easy chase for New Zealand in a must-win encounter. Opener Georgia Plimmer scored a brilliant half-century and was well supported by other batters. Ultimately, the White Ferns clinched an eight-wicket win to chase the total in 17.3 overs. With this win, they move closer to a semi-final qualification berth.

Nonkululeko Mlaba, with eight wickets to her name, is still at the top spot. Amelia Kerr got two wickets today and is now joint second with seven wickets alongside Megan Schutt and Arundhati Reddy. Rosemary Mair failed to get a wicket today but is still at the fifth spot with six wickets.
Following her are nine bowlers with five wickets each namely Annabel Sutherland, Sophie Molineux, Ashleigh Gardner, Sadia Iqbal, Karishma Ramharack, Asha Sobhana, Renuka Singh, Afy Fletcher, and Chamari Athapaththu.
