Nepal Women defeated the United Arab Emirates Women in the first match of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2024 by six wickets. They chased down the target of 116 runs in 16.1 overs on July 19.

In the second match, India Women defeated Pakistan Women by seven wickets after chasing down the target of 109 runs in 14.1 overs.

India are in first place in Group A and have a Net Run Rate of +2.294. Nepal Women are in second position and have a Net Run Rate of +1.549. United Arab Emirates Women and Pakistan Women are in the last two places and have a Net Run Rate of -1.549 and -2.294, respectively.


Samjhana Khadka and Deepti Sharma star as Nepal and India win their respective matches

Nepal won the toss against the United Arab Emirates and elected to bowl. Khushi Sharma played a handy knock of 36 runs off 39 deliveries, helping UAE post a total of 115 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs. Only four batters managed to make a double-digit score for UAE. Indu Barma was the pick of the bowlers for Nepal and took three wickets for 19 runs in four overs.

Samjhana Khadka made the contest a one-sided affair with her unbeaten knock of 72 runs off 45 deliveries. She helped Nepal win the match in 16.1 overs with six wickets in hand. Khadka won the Player of the Match award.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat. They were bundled out for 108 runs in 19.2 overs. No batter managed to cross the 30-run mark for Pakistan. Sidra Ameen was the highest scorer with 25 runs off 35 deliveries. Deepti Sharma shined with the ball and picked up three wickets for 20 runs in four overs.

Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana added 85 runs for the first wicket for India. Mandhana made 45 runs off 31 deliveries, while Shafali scored 40 runs off 29 deliveries. India took 14.1 overs to reach the target of 109 runs with seven wickets in hand. Deepti won the Player of the Match award for her bowling performance.
