Women's Asia Cup T20 2024: Most Runs

Team India defeated Bangladesh while Sri Lanka upstaged Pakistan in the two semifinals in Dambulla on Friday, July 26 to set up a blockbuster finale for the Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2024.

In the first semifinal, Team India bowlers collectively restricted Bangladesh Women to just 80/8 in 20 overs. Renuka Singh demolished the Bangladeshi top-order with a sizzling figures of 3/10. Spinner Radha Yadav also snapped three in the innings.

In response, Team India overhauled their 81-run target with all 10 wickets intact in just 11 overs. Shafali Verma anchored the chase with a near run-a-ball 26* while vice-captain Smriti Mandhana cracked an unbeaten 55 from 39 deliveries.

In the second knockout fixture of the day, Pakistan Women charted 140/4 from 20 overs largely owing to Muneeba Ali’s 37 and fiery cameos from captain Nida Dar (17-ball 23) and Fatima Sana (23*). For Sri Lanka, fast bowler Udeshika Prabodhani and off-spinner Kavisha Dilhari picked up two wickets each in their respective four-over spells.

Chasing 141 for a spot in the finals, captain Chamari Athapaththu punched out a match-defining 48-ball 63 to headline Sri Lanka’s three-wicket win in the last over. Sadia Iqbal staged Pakistan’s lone rebellion with the ball, picking up four wickets at the expense of just 16 runs in her four overs.

Chamari Athapaththu struck a match-winning 63 to extend her Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2024 tally to 243 runs. Finding herself at the top of the tournament’s run-scoring race, she is leading Shafali Verma (184 runs) and Gull Feroza (149 runs) by a fair margin.

Nigar Sultana is ranked fourth on the top 10 list with 142 runs while her Bangladeshi teammate Murshida Khatun is positioned fifth with 134 runs. Muneeba Ali and Smriti Mandhana take the subsequent two slots with 131 and 113 runs respectively.

Vishmi Gunaratne (91 runs), Nannapat Koncharoenkai (87 runs) and Samjhana Khadka (83 runs) occupy the final three ranks to round up the top 10 batting charts.

Deepti Sharma continues to lead the wicket-taking charts of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2024 with nine scalps. Sadia Iqbal, through her four-fer in the semifinals, jumped to number two on the list with eight wickets. Renuka Singh and Kavisha Dilhari, with seven wickets each to their name, occupy the next two slots on the table at number three and four respectively. Radha Yadav has snapped six wickets in the tournament to be ranked as its fifth most successful bowler.

Rabeya Khan, Kavisha Egodage, Nahida Akter and Mahirah Izzati Ismail have all claimed five wickets each to occupy the next four slots while Udeshika Prabodhani takes the final position with four wickets.
