Yuvraj Singh's father, Yograj Singh, is once again in the headlines due to his comments on Sachin Tendulkar's son, Arjun Tendulkar. The 66-year-old disparaged Arjun's ability on the cricket field.

According to reports, Sachin asked Yuvraj to request Yograj to take Arjun under his wing for a few days in 2022. Consequently, Arjun trained under Yograj for two weeks ahead of the Ranji Trophy 2022/23 season in Chandigarh.

The training certainly paid off as the young all-rounder slammed a century on his first-class debut for Goa against Rajasthan. He scored 120 off 207 balls and also picked up three wickets. The 24-year-old ended the Ranji Trophy 2022/23 season with 223 runs and 12 wickets in seven appearances. Arjun garnered 258 runs and took nine wickets in six games of the Ranji Trophy 2023/24 season.

In a recent interview with Zee Switch, Yograj Singh made a controversial claim on the future of Arjun Tendulkar. Here's what the anchor asked Yograj:

“Arjun Tendulkar came to you for training. How do you see his future?”

Yograj responded by saying:

"Aapne heera dekha hai koyle ki khan mein? Wo koyla hi hai. [Have you seen a diamond in a coal mine? He is the coal]."

Yograj Singh's controversial comments on MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev also went viral

During the aforementioned interview, Yograj Singh also made scathing remarks on former Indian captains, MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev. As per Yograj, Dhoni cut-short his son Yuvraj's international career by keeping him out of the national squad. He said:

“He [Dhoni] should look at his face in the mirror. He is a very big cricketer, but what he has done against my son, everything is coming out now; it can never be forgiven in life. That man has ruined my son's life, who could have played for four to five more years."

The former pacer also took aim at Dev for dropping him from the Indian squad after only six ODI appearances back in 1981. Yograj referenced Yuvraj Singh's multiple career accomplishments to Dev's only trophy in the form of the 1983 World Cup.

"The greatest captain of our time, Kapil Dev... I told him, I'll leave you in a position where the world would spit on you. Today, Yuvraj Singh has 13 trophies, and you have only one, the World Cup [1983]. End of discussion," Singh said.
