Naman Dhir played an excellent knock of 62 runs from 28 deliveries for the Mumbai Indians against the Lucknow Super Giants on Friday, May 17. The uncapped Indian all-rounder smacked four fours and five sixes at the Wankhede Stadium.

Unfortunately for Naman, he couldn't guide his team to a victory. Mumbai Indians needed 95 runs off 34 deliveries when the uncapped all-rounder walked out to bat at number seven. He tried his best to take MI home, but in the end, the Lucknow Super Giants won the contest by 18 runs.

Dhir maintained a phenomenal strike rate of 221.43 in his entertaining inning. A fan on X felt that the batter has auditioned for the mega auction in perfect style.

"Naman Dhir - the future superstar! With the Mega Auction coming, he made a statement. A strong domestic season needed, good luck Naman!" the fan tweeted.

Mumbai Indians have nurtured multiple young talents for the nation. Another cricket fan wrote that Naman is another addition to the long list.

"NAMAN DHIR - A star Mumbai Indians has given to Indian cricket in IPL 2024," the fan tweeted.

One of the die-hard MI fans regretted the fact that the team will likely have to release Naman next year due to the mega auction.

"Naman Dhir another Mumbai Indians scouting masterclass. But sadly he won't be there with us next season," the MI fan tweeted.

Naman Dhir showcased his 6-hitting ability in IPL 2024

Dhir made his IPL 2024 debut against the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium back on March 24. He scored 20 runs at a strike rate of 200 in that game. In the next fixture, Dhir hit a 14-ball 30 against Sunrisers Hyderabad, but he was dropped after he got out for a golden duck against Rajasthan Royals.

The uncapped player returned to the match squad for the fixture against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 3. He has ended his season on a memorable note with a half-century against Lucknow Super Giants. In total, Dhir hit 10 sixes in seven innings.
