The war of words ahead of the next Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series between India and Australia has just begun. Former Aussie skipper Ricky Ponting backed his team to hammer India by a 3-1 margin in the five-match Test series. Ponting told The ICC Review that the Aussies have a point to prove, having lost the last two home series to India 2-1 in 2018-19 and 2020-21.

On the other hand, former India head coach Ravi Shastri reckons that the visitors have a great chance to complete a hat-trick of Test triumphs Down Under. The former India all-rounder opined that Rohit Sharma and co. have a great chance of winning another Test series in Australia because they've got their bowlers fit. If they can bat well, they can 'tickle (beat) Australia once again', Shastri feels.
