All-rounder Shivam Dube is part of India's ODI squad for the side's three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. The series got underway earlier today (August 2) at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Dube returned to India's ODI team after a gap of almost five years. He made his ODI debut for India in the side's three-match home series against West Indies in 2019.

The swashbuckling batter featured in the playing XI for the series opener against West Indies at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Walking out to bat at No. 8, the southpaw scored nine runs off six deliveries. With the ball, he registered figures of 7.5-0-68-0.

Shivam Dube's stocks rose with his impressive performances for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He made a comeback into the national team after getting a call-up for the Ireland series last year.

Since then, the 31-year-old has been a regular feature in India's 20-over lineup and was also part of the Rohit Sharma-led side's 2024 T20 World Cup title-winning campaign. He would now look to make the most of his opportunities and cement his place in the ODI team as well.

With Hardik Pandya rested for the ODI series, Shivam Dube was expected to get a few chances to prove his worth in the 50-over format. The team management showed faith in his abilities, adding him to the playing XI for the first ODI.

Shivam Dube played a crucial 27-run knock in India's 2024 T20 World Cup final against South Africa. He also shone in the fifth and final T20I of the Men in Blue's series against Zimbabwe in June, scoring 26 runs and claiming two wickets.

He played just one match in the recently concluded T20I series against Sri Lanka, where he was dismissed for 13 runs. Dube was benched for the first two fixtures and got a chance to play after Hardik Pandya was rested for the dead rubber third T20I.
