India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed caught behind in the second innings of the ongoing Test against Bangladesh at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Day 2 (Friday, September 20). The left-handed batter departed for 10 runs off 17 balls, comprising two boundaries. With the wicket, India were reduced to 28-2 with both openers back in the pavilion.

The dismissal came in the seventh over of India’s second innings. Nahid Rana bowled a full-length ball outside off and Jaiswal went hard on the drive. The left-handed batter took a big stride but only managed an outside edge behind the stumps.

Jaiswal was dismissed caught behind in the previous innings off Rana as well. The 22-year-old had scored 56 off 118 balls in his first innings.

Yashasvi Jaiswal's start to his Test career has been brilliant and he is the fourth-highest run-getter in the format's history after 10 Tests, with 1094 runs. Only Australia’s Don Bradman (1446), West Indies’ Everton Weekes (1125), and George Headley (1102) had scored more after their first 10 Test matches.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma failed to deliver with the bat in the second innings but India continued to dominate Bangladesh in the first Test.

At the time of writing, the hosts were 56/2 in their second innings, with Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill at the crease. Team India have extended their lead to 283 runs.

Asked to bat first, India posted 376 in their first innings. Ravichandran Ashwin top-scored with 113 runs, while Ravindra Jadeja impressed with 86. The duo stitched a 199-run partnership to recover the team from 144-6.

Hasan Mahmud emerged as the pick of the bowlers for the visitors, returning with a five-wicket haul. Taskin Ahmed also bagged three wickets.

In response, Bangladesh were bundled out for 149 in the first innings. Jasprit Bumrah took four wickets, while Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, and Ravindra Jadeja shared two wickets apiece. Shakib Al Hasan top scored with 32 runs as the Bangladesh batting unit failed to deliver.
