[Watch] West Indies dressing room applauds as Kavem Hodge scores his maiden century in the 2nd Test against England

The West Indian dressing room was all praise for Kavem Hodge, who got his maiden Test century against England on the second day of the Test match on Friday, July 19, at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.

Hodge came to bat in the 25th over when the West Indies were 84/3. In the 42nd over of the inning, in Mark Wood's over, Joe Root dropped the right-handed batter on 16. After that, it was all class, as Hodge stitched a brilliant 175-run partnership off 225 balls for the fourth wicket with Alick Athanaze.

Hodge reached his fifty in 85 balls. The milestone moment came on the fourth ball of the 66th over when Hodge hit a four at mid-off to get to his maiden test century. The right-handed batter jumped in the air in delight. He received a standing ovation from the West Indian dressing room after his outstanding century.

Hodge was trapped in front of the wickets in the 75th over by Chris Woakes. However, before departing, he did his work. The talented batter scored 120 runs off 171 balls, with 19 boundaries in his innings, and his wickets left the West Indies at 305/5.

West Indies fight back on Day 2 of the second Test

England scored 416 runs in their first inning, thanks to a brilliant century from vice-captain Ollie Pope (121) and pivotal contributions from Ben Duckett (71) and skipper Ben Stokes (69).

In the first Test, the West Indies could only manage to score 257 runs in two innings. However, they came back strongly, with captain Kraigg Braithwaite leading from the front with a 48-run knock.

After that, it was Alick Athanaze who missed a well-deserving century. The left-handed batter scored 82 runs off 99 balls and supported the centurion, Kavem Hodge, brilliantly.

At the stumps on Day 2, the West Indies were 351/5, trailing by 65 runs. Jason Holder (23*) and Joshua Da Silva (32*) were on the crease and will be looking to continue their strong showing on Day 3 to help the West Indies get a decent first-inning lead.
