West Delhi Lions captain Hrithik Shokeen took a stunner to get rid of North Delhi Strikers batter Vaibhav Rawal in the third game of Delhi Premier League on Sunday, August 18. The game is being played at Arun Jaitley Stadium.

The dismissal took place on the fourth ball of the 16th over. West Delhi pacer Rohit Yadav bowled a full-length delivery outside off-stump. Left-handed batter Vaibhav Rawal made room and smashed the ball towards the mid-off area. Hrithik Shokeen, moving to his right, dove full-stretch to pull off a stunning catch.

Here’s the video of the dismissal:

Vaibhav scored 36 off 29 balls, including four boundaries. His wicket left North Delhi Strikers at 122-4 after 15.4 overs.

Akhil Chaudhary shines with the ball for West Delhi

The West Delhi Lions skipper Hrithik Shokeen won the toss and elected to bowl first. Akhil Chaudhary provided an early breakthrough by dismissing Strikers’ opener Sarthak Ranjan for one in the second over. Yash Dabas also struggled during his stay at the crease, scoring 10 off 11 balls.

Vaibhav Kandpal played a decent innings, scoring 29 off 22 balls, before being trapped in front of the wickets by Shokeen. Yash Bhatia and Vaibhav Rawal put together a 74-run partnership in 48 balls for the fourth wicket before the latter was removed by Rohit Yadav, courtesy of a moment of brilliance on the field by Hrithik.

Soon after, Yash was dismissed by Akhil; he scored 37 off 28 balls, hitting three boundaries and two sixes. North Delhi finished at 144-8 in their allotted 20 overs.

Akhil Chaudhary was brilliant for the Lions, taking four wickets while conceding only 20 runs in his spell of four overs. West Delhi are yet to start their innings at the time of writing.

Meanwhile, earlier in the day, East Delhi Riders defeated Central Delhi Kings by 10 wickets in a rain-affected game.
