Former India captain Virat Kohli hugged reigning skipper Rohit Sharma and head coach Gautam Gambhir following the hosts’ seven-wicket win over Bangladesh in the second Test at Green Park Stadium on Tuesday, October 1. The right-handed batter stayed unbeaten on 29 off 37 balls to India over the line on Day 5.

In a video doing the rounds on X, Kohli was seen embracing Rohit, Gambhir, and other teammates as he walked out of the ground after taking the team past the finish line.

Watch the clip below:

Kohli previously scored 47 runs in the first innings, where he became the fastest to complete 27,000 runs in Tests. He thus became the fourth player after Sachin Tendulkar, Kumar Sangakkara, and Ricky Ponting to achieve the rare milestone.

With 47 and 29* in the second innings, Kohli returned to form after managing just 6 and 17 in the first Test. The 35-year-old will now look to score big in the upcoming three-match home Test series against New Zealand in October.

“Both these guys have a lot of cricket left in them” – When Gautam Gambhir lauded Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma

Gautam Gambhir recently said that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have a lot of cricket left in them following their contributions to the T20 World Cup win. The new head coach said in a press conference (via Sportskeeda):

“I think they've shown what they can deliver on the big stage whether it was the T20 World Cup and in the 50 over World Cup as well. I think both those guys have got a lot of cricket left in them.
"And more importantly with the Champions Trophy and a big tour of Australia, obviously they would be motivated enough, and then hopefully they can keep their fitness till the 2027 World Cup as well,” he added.

While Virat Kohli looked decent in the second Test, Rohit Sharma continued his failures in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh. The 37-year-old scored 6,5, 23, and 8 in his four innings against the neighbors.
