Virat Kohli's horrendous run with the bat continued in the T20 World Cup 2024 semi-final between India and England at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on Thursday, June 27. He departed after scoring a run-a-ball nine.

Kohli has struggled for form in this edition of the T20 World Cup. The low scores have jolted his confidence and it was evident from his brief stay in the middle. Kohli looked shaky throughout his stay in the middle before being knocked over by Reece Topley in the third over.

The right-handed batter went all guns blazing from the very beginning but failed to get the right timing. After a few mishits, Kohli finally hit from the middle of the bat to dislodge Topley over the mid-wicket region. But the left-arm pacer bounced back a couple of balls later to give England the first breakthrough.

The ball was pitched on a good length, which came back a little towards Kohli. The batter remained on the leg side and tried to heave it over the mid-wicket region. However, he was beaten by the movement and the ball kissed the top of the leg stump to end Virat Kohli's stay in the middle.

Kohli was livid with himself and looked disappointed on his way back to the dressing room.

Reeling at 19/1, India needed Rishabh Pant to stick around with skipper Rohit Sharma. However, the wicketkeeper-batter flattered to deceive, scoring only four of six deliveries.

At the time of writing, the Men in Blue were 57/2 in 7.2 overs, with Rohit and Suryakumar Yadav in the middle.

How has Virat Kohli performed in T20 World Cup 2024?

The ongoing edition of the T20 World Cup is by far the worst-ever ICC campaign in Virat Kohli's international career. He has aggregated only 75 runs in seven matches at an average of 10.71, with the highest score of 37 against Bangladesh.

Kohli began the tournament with a five-ball one against Ireland. He scored four runs in the next game against arch-rivals Pakistan before bagging a golden duck against the USA. He scored a run-a-ball 24 against Afghanistan before scoring 37 against the Bangla Tigers.

The Delhi-born cricketer bagged another duck against Australia before scoring nine runs today in the semi-final.
