Virat Kohli got out to a soft dismissal on the last ball of Day 3 of the ongoing first Test between India and New Zealand at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday, October 18. The right-handed batter was caught behind by wicketkeeper Tom Blundell off Glenn Phillips against the run of play. He scored 70 runs off 102 balls, comprising one six and eight boundaries.

The dismissal took place in the 49th over of India’s second innings. Phillips bowled a flatter delivery outside off and Kohli got a faint edge through to the wicketkeeper. The 35-year-old feathered the ball and Blundell was convinced before the TV umpire confirmed it was out. Kohli saw the big screen and looked gutted.

Notably, Kohli had changed the gloves just a ball earlier after diving for a second run at the striker’s end. With the wicket, Phillips broke the 136-run third-wicket partnership between Sarfaraz Khan and Kohli.
