Oval Invincibles all-rounder Tom Curran hit an astonishing six off Jofra Archer in Hundred Men's final against Southern Brave at Lord's in London on Sunday, August 18. He was out next ball, brilliantly caught by James Coles. Tom, however, contributed a crucial 24 off only 11 balls.

Oval Invincibles beat Southern Brave by 17 runs in the Hundred Men's final to win the competition for the second year in a row. Sent into bat after losing the toss, Oval Invincibles put up 147-9 on the board as Will Jacks top-scored with 37 off 22. Saqib Mahmood then starred with 3-17 as Southern Brave were held to 130-7.

Apart from Jacks, Sam Curran (25 off 20) and Jordan Cox (25 off 17) chipped in with crucial contributions. Tom also played a fine cameo to lift the batting side to a competitive total. He struck two fours and two sixes in his knock.

On the 89th ball of the Oval Invincibles innings, Tom hit an outrageous six off Archer. He initially walked across the stumps to hit one on the leg side. Archer, however, bowled one full and wide outside off. Incredibly, the batter adjusted his stroke and somehow carved the ball over cover for a maximum. The six was scored off a 'free hit' as the previous delivery was a no-ball.

Archer, however, had his revenge the very next ball with a bouncer. Tom top-edged the short ball and Coles pulled off a brilliant catch, running in from long leg. Tom Lammonby chipped in with 16 off nine to take Oval Invincibles close to the 150-run mark. For Southern Brave, Akeal Hosein and Tymal Mills claimed three wickets each, while Archer chipped in with two.

Saqib Mahmood stars with the ball as Oval Invincibles defend their Men's Hundred title

Defending a total of 147, pacer Mahmood starred with 3-17 in his 20 balls as Oval Invincibles defended their Men's Hundred title. The right-arm pacer claimed three wickets in the space of seven balls to completely take the fight out of Southern Brave's chase.

Mahmood first knocked over Leus du Plooy (20 off 14) and then trapped the dangerous Kieron Pollard (0) leg before with an in-ducker. The pace bowler had his third when Laurie Evans (16) chipped a back-of-length delivery to short cover. Seasoned Leg-spinner Adam Zampa also chipped in with 2-26, which included the scalps of opener Alex Davies (35) and Chris Jordan (1).
