Team India skipper and opener Rohit Sharma was dismissed cheaply on Day 2 of the ongoing first Test between India and New Zealand on Thursday, October 17. The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru is hosting the first Test of the three-match series.

Rohit won the toss and decided to bat under cloudy conditions. He was quick to get off the mark but took some time to reach 2. The right-handed batter played a host of dot balls, with the red cherry moving all over the place and beating the bat.

On the third ball of the seventh over, Rohit decided to take the attack to Tim Southee and charged at the veteran pacer. The ball shaped back into him and squared him up, taking the leg stump with it.

Take a look at the dismissal here:

Rohit was bowled for 2 off 16 balls. With Shubman Gill being out of the contest, Virat Kohli walked in at No. 3 and replaced the Indian skipper in the middle.

Matt Henry then drew Sarfaraz Khan (0 off 3) into playing a false stroke, with Devon Conway taking a fine catch to send him back.

At the moment, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant are in the middle. The score reads 13/3 for India after 12.4 overs with the heavens opening up and play being stopped due to rain.
