Southern Brave keeper Alex Davies took a screamer to dismiss Trent Rockets batter Joe Root in the 24th match of The Hundred Men’s 2024. The game took place at the Rose Bowl in Southampton on Saturday, August 10.

The dismissal took place on the 62nd ball. Joe Root hit Jofra Archer for four on the 61st ball, but the England pacer took his revenge on the following delivery.

Archer bowled a leg cutter, which Joe Root tried to cut but got a thick outside edge. Keeper Alex Davies was brilliant behind the stumps as he dived to his right to take a brilliant one-handed catch to dismiss the right-hander.

Here’s the video of the dismissal:

Joe Root didn’t have the best of outings. The right-handed batter scored 16 off 12 balls, hitting two fours. Root’s wicket left his side at 81/4 after 62 balls.

Brilliant efforts from Southern Brave bowlers helped restrict the Trent Rockets to a low total

The Trent Rockets won the toss and chose to bat first. Openers Tom Banton and Adam Lyth provided a decent start as they stitched together a 46-run partnership off 29 balls. Danny Briggs provided the first breakthrough for the Southern Brave; he dismissed Tom Banton for 30.

Two balls later, his partner, Adam Lyth, was removed by Akeal Hosein. The Trent Rockets middle-order batters got a start but couldn't convert it into a big inning. Five batters were dismissed between the scores of 15 and 20. The Brave bowlers were excellent, as they kept chipping away at regular intervals.

The Trent Rockets finished their innings at 126/8 in 100 balls. Chris Jordan was the pick of the bowlers for the Southern Brave, taking three wickets. Meanwhile, Jofra Archer and Danny Briggs bagged two wickets each.

The chase was yet to start at the time of writing.
