West Indies legend Sir Vivian Richards gave away the best fielder’s medal to Suryakumar Yadav for his exceptional catch in the 2024 T20 World Cup Super-8 clash between India and Bangladesh in Antigua on Saturday, June 22. Suryakumar had taken a brilliant diving catch to dismiss Bangladesh opener Litton Das to help India strike early in the match. The 33-year-old beat India captain Rohit Sharma and Axar Patel for the best fielder medal.

In a video shared by the Indian Cricket Team on Instagram, Sir Vivian Richards could be seen making a guest entry to give away the medal. The Men in Blue stood up out of respect as soon as he entered the dressing room.

Richards gave the medal to Suryakumar and wished India all the best for the remainder of the tournament, picking Rohit Sharma and Co. as his second-best team at the ICC event. He was also glad to see Rishabh Pant make his comeback after surviving a tragic accident.

Sharing the video on Instagram, ICT captioned the post:

“It’s about going there and putting that into work” – Rohit Sharma delighted with India’s aggressive approach in victory over Bangladesh in 2024 T20 World Cup Super-8 clash

India captain Rohit Sharma lauded the Men in Blue for their fearless approach as they beat Bangladesh by 50 runs in their 2024 T20 World Cup Super-8 clash. He said in the post-match show:

“I have been talking about this for a long time now. It's about going there and putting that into work. Considering everything we played really well, adapted to the conditions. Overall we were good with bat and ball. All eight batters need to play their role, whatever it is."
“We saw one guy [Hardik Pandya] get 50 and we got 197, in T20 I don't believe we need to get fifties and hundreds, what matters is the pressure you put on the bowlers. All the batters from the word go played like that and that's how we want to play as well. There is a lot of experience in the squad and we back them,” he added.

India will next face Australia in their last 2024 T20 World Cup Super-8 clash in Gros Islet, St. Lucia on Monday, June 24.
