In match number 22 of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2024, Siechem Madurai Panthers pacer Ajay Krishna hit the bull eye and shattered the middle stump in two parts to dismiss U Mukilesh on Tuesday, July 23. Siechem Madurai Panthers won the toss and asked Lyca Kovai Kings to bat first in the game being held at Indian Cement Company Ground in Tirunelveli.

Right-arm bowler Ajay Krishna came in to bowl his second over of the spell in the 12th over. On the very first ball, he got rid of U Mukilesh. Ajay bowled a cross-seam delivery, angling into the right-hander. The Kovai Kings' batter advanced but failed to hit the ball, which went on to hit the middle stumps. The middle stump broke into two pieces and went flying towards the keeper.

The right-handed batter scored 21 off 18 balls, his wicket left Lyca Kovia Kings at 86/3 after 11.1 over.

Ajay Krishna had a brilliant game with the ball, coming in to bowl the penultimate over of the innings and taking three wickets. He bowled three overs, conceded 20 runs, and took four wickets for his side.


Shahrukh Khan shines as the Lyca Kovai Kings put 163 runs on the board

After being asked to bat first, the Lyca Kovai Kings lost two wickets and scored 44 runs in the powerplay. Sai Sudharsan (34 off 26) and U Mukilesh stitched together a 42-run partnership in 32 balls for the third wicket.

Kovai Kings captain Shahrukh Khan played a brilliant innings. He scored 51 runs off 26 balls, smashing two boundaries and five sixes to help his side post 163 runs on the board.

The Siechem Madurai Panthers bowlers were brilliant in the last two overs, especially Ajay Krishna, who took three wickets in the 19th over to restrict the Lyca Kovai Kings to a much lower total than what was expected.

The Siechem Madurai Panthers are yet to start their innings at the time of writing.
