Indian pacer Akash Deep claimed his first wicket by dismissing Bangladesh opener Shadman Islam on Day 5 of the second Test in the two-match series on Tuesday, October 1. The game is taking place at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.

The dismissal occurred on the fourth ball of the 29th over. Bowling round the wicket, Akash Deep delivered a full ball outside off stump. Shadman attempted a drive but could only manage an edge, which was sharply caught by Yashasvi Jaiswal at gully.

The left-handed batter played a solid innings, making 50 runs off 101 balls with 10 boundaries. His dismissal left Bangladesh in a tough position at 93/5 after 28.4 overs.


India on top after taking 5 wickets in the morning session on Day 5

Bangladesh finished Day 4 at 26/2 after 11 overs, and their struggles continued into the morning of Day 5 when they lost first-innings centurion Mominul Haque for just two runs, marking Ravichandran Ashwin’s third wicket.

Shadman Islam and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto added 55 runs for the fourth wicket before Jadeja dismissed the latter for 19. In the next over, Islam was out for 50, leaving Bangladesh at 93/5.

Jadeja then struck twice in quick succession, removing Litton Das for 1 and Shakib Al Hasan for 0. At the time of writing, Bangladesh were 118/7, leading by only 66 runs, with Mushfiqur Rahim (15) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (9) at the crease.

Earlier in the match, India began aggressively in their first innings, eventually declaring at 285/9 in just 34.4 overs. They set records for the fastest scores of 50, 100, 150, 200, and 250 in Test cricket history. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 72 off 51 balls, while KL Rahul contributed 68 off 43 balls. Virat Kohli also chipped in with 47 off 35 balls.
