Mumbai's Sarfaraz Khan scored a splendid double century on Day 2 of the ongoing 2024 Irani Cup fixture against Rest of India (ROI) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Wednesday, October 2. Veteran commentator Vivek Razdan, who was on air, delivered a shayari to make the moment extra special.

With this knock, the 26-year-old became the first-ever Mumbai player to score a double ton in the history of this prestigious tournament. He finished the day unbeaten on 221 off 276 deliveries, hitting 25 boundaries and four sixes on the way.

Here's the video of Sarfaraz Khan reaching his double hundred as Vivek Razdan delivered a shayari:

Sarfaraz Khan's double hundred puts Mumbai in a commanding position after a disastrous start

Put into bat, Mumbai got off to a disastrous start losing two wickets in just the third over of their innings with only six runs on the board. At one stage, they were reeling at 37 for three after opener Ayush Mhatre's dismissal. Shreyas Iyer departed after scoring 57 runs during which he put up a 102-run fourth-wicket partnership with skipper Ajinkya Rahane.

Once Iyer walked back to the pavilion, Rahane joined hands with Sarfaraz Khan and the duo added 131 runs for the fifth wicket. Rahane produced a captain's knock before falling short of a well-deserved century. He was caught behind wicketkeeper by Dhruv Jurel for 97 off the bowling of Yash Dayal.

Sarfaraz, who entered the crease in the 40th over, continued his impressive run with the bat, thereby putting Mumbai in a commanding position. He was well supported by Tanush Kotian (64 off 124) and Shardul Thakur (36 off 59) lower down the order. Mumbai will resume Day 3 on 536 for nine.
