[Watch] Sam Curran strikes in his first over to send Rishabh Pant back for 4 runs in IND vs ENG T20 World Cup semis

Team India lost their second wicket as Rishabh Pant perished for just four runs in the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup semi-final encounter against England. Left-arm seamer Sam Curran needed only two balls to deliver the breakthrough for his side in the final over of the powerplay at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on Thursday, June 27.

Pant had to come out to bat in the third over of the innings after Reece Topley castled Virat Kohli. The left-handed batter stroked the ball around for a couple of singles against the pacers before being pitted against Curran in the sixth over.

The left-arm pacer had bowled a regulation delivery outside the off stump, which Pant tried to whip over midwicket. However, he could not get the elevation and ended up handing a simple catch to Jonny Bairstow at midwicket.

Rishabh Pant has had a string of soft dismissals since the Super 8 stage. He perished twice to the reverse sweep and was dismissed by Marcus Stoinis in Team India's win against Australia in St.Lucia.

He got starts in nearly all of the matches but has failed to make the most of it. The six-run knock against England marks his lowest score in the tournament, and such dismissals do not bode well if he wishes to play in the Indian top order in the long run.

Team India placed at 65/2 after eight overs as rain stops play

The Men in Blue were rebuilding their innings in the middle overs, with Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav taking on Adil Rashid and Chris Jordan to gather some momentum. Rain made a brief appearance midway through the seventh over, but the umpires decided to play through.

However, only a few minutes later, the rain intensified to a great extent and the players had to walk off the field. As of writing, covers have been placed on the pitch and the outfield, and the initial impressions are not entirely promising.

However, on a positive note, there is still a long way to go before starting to lose overs. The cut-off time for a 10-over game has been set for 1:44 AM IST.
