[Watch] Sam Curran makes tough catch look incredibly easy in The Hundred

Sam Curran took an excellent catch to dismiss Paul Walter in The Hundred on Tuesday, August 6. Old Trafford hosted the game between Oval Invincibles and Manchester Originals.

The dismissal came off the 82nd delivery of Manchester’s run chase. Zampa bowled a length ball and Walter slammed it towards the deep mid-wicket. The ball got enough height but not the distance. Curran kept his eyes on the ball while managing his footsteps to complete a smart relay catch. The timely wicket helped the Invincibles bounce back into the game.

Sharing the video on X, The Hundred’s official handle wrote:

“Nooo, not Tall Paul. Sam Curran with a safe pair of hands!”

Curran also slammed a quickfire 68 runs off 38 balls with the help of six maximums and two boundaries. He hit a six to complete back-to-back fifties in the tournament. Curran further bagged two wickets in the fixture to put in an all-round effort. He had scalped a hat trick in his previous game.


Oval Invincibles beat Manchester Originals by three runs in The Hundred's last-ball thriller

A clinical all-around performance helped Oval Invincibles beat Manchester Originals by three runs in a last-ball thriller in The Hundred on Tuesday.

Asked to bat first, the Invincibles put up 164/8 in their allotted 100 balls. Apart from Curran, opener Will Jacks scored 41 off 20 deliveries, hitting three sixes and four boundaries. Sam Billings and Jordan Cox also chipped in with scores of 24 (12) and 14 (12), respectively. Sikandar Raza, Usama Mir and Scott Currie bagged two wickets apiece for Manchester Originals.

In response, Manchester managed 161/7. Matthew Hurst top scored with 50 off 29, comprising three sixes and four boundaries. Phil Salt and Paul Walter also chipped in with scores of 34 (28) and 28 (14), respectively. The duo, however, failed to take the team over the line. Adam Zampa and Sam Curran bagged two wickets each for the Invincibles.

With the win, the Invincibles are second in The Hundred points table with four wins in five games. They have equal points as table toppers Southern Brave but a lower net run rate. Meanwhile, Manchester are rock bottom after losing their first five games (no win).
