[Watch] Ravichandran Ashwin takes stunning diving catch in TNPL Qualifier 2

Dindigul Dragons captain Ravichandran Ashwin took a brilliant diving catch in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2024 on Friday, August 2. Qualifier 2 is underway between Dindigul and IDream Tiruppur at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The stunning catch came in the sixth over of IDream Tiruppur's innings. Sandeep Warrier bowled a full-length ball on the middle and leg, and Amit Sathvik chipped in down the ground. Ashwin flew to his left from mid-on to complete a neat catch, leaving everyone in awe. The 37-year-old nearly pulled off the catch of the tournament.

Ravichandran Ashwin has been electric in the TNPL, picking up 10 wickets in seven matches at an economy rate of 7.27. With the bat, he recently smashed 57 runs off 35 balls in the Eliminator, where Dindigul beat Chepauk Super Gillies by four wickets in a last-over thriller.

Ravichandran Ashwin’s Dindigul Dragons restrict IDream Tiruppur to 108

A clinical bowling display helped Dindigul Dragons bundle out IDream Tiruppur for 108 in 19.4 overs. P Vignesh starred with the ball, returning with stunning figures of 3/8, while Suboth Bhati and Varun Chakaravarthy bagged two wickets apiece. Skipper Ravichandran Ashwin and Sandeep Warrier scalped one wicket each.

Maan Bafna top scored with 26 off 19 balls, while S Ganesh, Amit Sathvik, and R Rohit were the other three batters to reach double digits.

In response, Dindigul Dragons were 57 without loss after six overs, with Ashwin (32 off 17) and Vimal Khumar (18 off 19) at the crease at the time of writing.

The winner of Qualifier 2 will lock horns with defending champions Lyca Kovai Kings at the same venue in the TNPL 2024 final on Sunday, August 4. Dindigul Dragons are chasing their first trophy in the tournament, while Kovai Kings won the last two editions.
