[Watch] Pratham Singh hits 14 runs off an over to get to his hundred in the 2024 Duleep Trophy

India A and Railways batter Pratham Singh scored 14 runs off one over against India D's Vidwath Kaverappa and got to his century in the ongoing Duleep Trophy match between India A and India D. The match is being played at the Rural Development Trust Stadium, Anantapur.

The incident happened in the 49th over of the game on Saturday, September 14. Pratham was batting on 88 and attacked Kaverappa by hitting him for a six off the first delivery. A couple of dot balls later, the batter hit back-to-back boundaries to bring up his first century of the Duleep Trophy.

Pratham Singh was drafted into the India A squad as a replacement for outgoing batter Shubman Gill, who was also the captain of the side. He also scored his second first-class hundred.

After winning the toss and electing to bowl first, India D had a good first half on Day 1, reducing India A to 93/5 in the third match of the Duleep Trophy. Tanush Kotian (53 off 80) and Shams Mulani (89 off 187) joined forces in the middle and batted out of their skins to help India A reach 290. Harshit Rana (4/51) and Vidhwath Kaverappa (2/30) starred with the ball.

India A would then repeat what India D did with the ball, reducing them to 96/5 on Day 2. Devdutt Padikkal (92 off 124) played an excellent knock with a lower-order contribution from Harshit Rana (31 off 29) but it wasn't enough as India D were all out for 183, handing India A a lead of 107 runs.

India A batted out for 28 overs yesterday and scored 115 runs. Since losing a wicket yesterday, southpaws Tilak Varma and Pratham Singh have batted for them since the start of play this morning. At the time of writing, India A are on 209/1 after 57 overs.
