[Watch] Phil Salt smashes KKR teammate Andre Russell for a monstrous 100-meter six during WI vs ENG T20 World Cup Super 8 clash

England v West Indies: Super Eight - ICC Men
Phil Salt had already hit a 106-metre six earlier in the T20 World Cup off Mitchell Starc

England's swashbuckling opener Phil Salt, known for hitting big sixes, smashed another one in the ongoing T20 World Cup. He hit West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell for a 100-meter six during their Super 8 clash in St. Lucia on Thursday, June 20. Salt and Russell shared the same dressing room at IPL 202 champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

The opener seemed to have faced Russell a lot in the KKR nets as he was able to predict that the latter would bowl a length delivery to end his over. Salt danced down the track, converted it into a slot ball, and smashed it over the bowler's head with the ball ending up going out of the stadium.

Here's a video of the monstrous six:

Salt ended up unbeaten on 87 off just 47 balls as England chased down the 181-run target in a canter, beating West Indies by eight wickets and 15 balls to spare.

Phil Salt's dropped chance proves too costly for West Indies

Phil Salt was on just seven when wicketkeeper Nicholas Pooran gave him a life off Akeal Hosein's bowling. Salt had his eyes lit up at a short delivery and tried to smash it over mid-wicket, but the ball gripped the surface and the opener was too early in his shot. The ball took an under edge and Pooran shelled the chance as he couldn't take advantage of the ball rebounding off his glove.

It summed up the flat effort from the West Indies in the field as despite losing two wickets, England always seemed to be in control of the chase. Salt piled on more misery on the co-hosts as he smashed 30 runs in an over from Romario Shepherd, giving West Indies a wake-up call in terms of their semifinal hopes.
