Pakistani pacer Wahab Riaz has been in the headlines after he dropped a sitter against the Indian Champions in the World Championship of Legends (WCL). India Champions faced the Pakistan Champions in the eighth match of the WCL on Saturday, July 6, in Edgbaston, Birmingham.

The incident took place in the last over of the India Champions innings bowled by Aamer Yamin. It was the third delivery when Anureet Singh tried to hit one out of the park; however, it went straight up in the air. Pakistani pacer Wahab Riaz positioned himself but couldn’t get hold of the ball.

Here’s the video of the dropped catch:

The left-arm pacer bowled a decent spell in the game. He took three wickets and only conceded 22 runs in his four overs. Riaz bowled a perfect inswinging yorker to dismiss Pawan Negi, while Harbhajan Singh was trapped in front of the wickets. Meanwhile, Irfan Pathan hit straight into the hands of Long-on.

Apart from Ambati Rayudu (39) and Suresh Raina (52), every batter struggled for the India Champions as they fell well short of the target. Harbhajan Singh’s side could only manage to score 175 while chasing a target of 244.

Kamran Akmal and Sharjeel Khan went berserk for Pakistan Champions

After being asked to bat first, openers Kamran Akmal and Sharjeel Khan were on fire for the Pakistan Champions. In just 65 balls, they stitched an opening stand of 145 runs. Akmal scored 77 off 40 balls; he hit nine fours and four sixes.

Meanwhile, Sharjeel Khan struck 72 runs off just 30 balls. He smashed seven fours and five sixes. Later, Sohaib Maqsood joined the party. The right-handed batter scored 51 off just 26 balls to help Pakistan post a mammoth total of 243 on the board.

In the second inning, Wahab Riaz and Shoaib Malik took three wickets each as the Pakistan Champions won the match by 68 runs. This was Younis Khan’s team's third consecutive win at the tournament.
