Ollie Pope's inconsistent run with the bat continued as Aamer Jamal's brilliant catch ended the stand-in skipper's two-ball stay at the crease. The right-hander came in as a makeshift opener after Ben Duckett injured his thumb off the final ball of Pakistan's innings in the final session.

The England openers needed a bright start after Pakistan played for over one and a half days to post 556 on the board. Crawley, coming into the squad after a finger injury, showed intent by scoring a boundary of Shaheen Afridi for a boundary in the first over.

Pope was up against Naseem Shah with the new ball from the other end. The stand-in England skipper negotiated the first delivery well, and looked to play the pull shot off the next ball. He connected the stroke well, and the ball seemed to be heading towards the mid-wicket boundary.

However, Aamer Jamal leaped to his right and stuck out his hand in a bid to catch, and was able to pluck it out of thin air to help Pakistan with the early breakthrough.

Have a look at the brilliant piece of fielding right here:

Ollie Pope has recorded five single-digit scores ever since taking over as stand-in captain. He recorded a century against Sri Lanka at The Oval, but he has notched only 37 runs off the other six innings.

England looking to survive Day 2 after Pope's dismissal

The visitors have had a horrid time in Pakistan so far. Firstly with Stokes not being fit in time to now potentially losing Ben Duckett to a fresh injury. The bowlers were made to toil hard on a flat pitch in the grueling heat as they pitched in together to bowl a staggering 149 overs.

Joe Root has walked in at No.3 after the fall of Pope's wicket. As of writing, the score reads 18/1 after four overs. There is still time left in the day for Pakistan to make further inroads and head into Day 3 in pole position.
