Team India's top-order batter Shubman Gill silenced his naysayers by notching up a stellar century in the side's recently concluded Test series opener against Bangladesh in Chennai. The 25-year-old was subjected to widespread criticism following an eight-ball duck in the first innings.

However, he redeemed himself with a stunning performance in the subsequent innings, remaining unbeaten on 119 and helping India post a daunting 515-run target. The hosts ultimately completed a thumping 280-run victory in the clash.

Gill has begun his preparation for the upcoming second and final Test of the series. He was seen sweating it out in the gym to gear up for the encounter.

Taking to his official Instagram handle on Tuesday, September 24, the batter shared a video, giving fans a glimpse of his workout session. He captioned the post:

"No mistakes, only lessons."

The second and final Test of the series between India and Bangladesh will be played in Kanpur. The match kicks off on Friday, September 27.

"He's making that important No.3 spot his own" - Wasim Jaffer on Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill plays as an opener in white-ball cricket. While he started his Test career as an opener too, he later agreed to play at the No. 3 spot. Former India batter Wasim Jaffer believes that the youngster has made the crucial batting position his own.

Terming Gill's hundred a great sign for Team India at the start of the Test season, Jaffer wrote on X:

"Test hundred number 5 of many more to come. He's making that important No.3 spot his own. Augurs well for India at the start of a long test season. Well played @ShubmanGill."

Shubman Gill made his Test debut in December 2020 against Australia in Melbourne. The right-handed batter has 1,611 runs to his name in the format across 48 innings at an average of 37.46. He has five centuries and six fifties so far in his Test career.
