The video of West Indies wicketkeeper Nicholas Pooran giving signals to spinner Akeal Hosein in 2024 T20 World Cup game has been making the rounds on the internet. The incident occurred during the clash between the West Indies and England on Thursday, June 20 in St. Lucia.

In the clip posted by @BishOnTheRockx on X, Pooran is seen providing suggestions to Hosein, seemingly on whether to bowl left-arm spin or the arm ball. The spinner delivered his actual stock delivery after Pooran's gloves went from left to right, and came up with an arm ball after the keeper's hand was stationary.

Interestingly, Nicholas Pooran was also seen chirping behind the stumps during the 13th over, seemingly to divert Phil Salt's attention. However, his efforts went in vain.

Despite all the variations, Akeal Hosein went wicketless and finished with figures of 0/35 in his four overs. In his final over, the left-arm spinner conceded 16 runs, with Bairstow hitting him for a six and two boundaries.

England off to a strong start in Super 8 stage of T20 World Cup 2024

The second game of Super 8 stage of T20 World Cup saw the West Indies batting first and starting well with Brandon King (23 off 13). After he was retired hurt, Johnson Charles (38 off 34) and Nicholas Pooran (36 off 32) struggled to get going, and the team's momentum got stalled.

However, Rovman Powell (36 off 17) and Romario Shepherd (28* off 15) powered the West Indies' total to 180. Adil Rashid (1/25) was the most economical bowler for the English side.

In response, Jos Buttler (25 off 22) started well but was dismissed in the eighth over. Moeen Ali (13 off 10) soon followed suit. However, Phil Salt (87*) and Jonny Bairstow (48* off 26) were sensational with their counter-attacking game, as England chased down the score in less than 18 overs.

With this dominant victory, the Buttler-led side are now at the top of the Super 8 Group 2 table of T20 World Cup with a net run-rate of +1.343.
