New Zealand’s Devon Conway took a brilliant diving catch to send back Sarfaraz Khan for a duck in the first Test against India at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Day 2 (Thursday, October 17). With the catch, Conway helped the Kiwis reduce the hosts to 10/3 in the morning session.

The dismissal came in the 10th over of India’s first innings. Matt Henry bowled a length ball outside off and Sarfaraz played it towards extra cover. The right-handed looked off-balance while playing the shot. Conway covered a few yards before diving to his right to complete the catch.

“Conway’s leap of faith. Team India lose their 3rdwicket early on in Bengaluru!”

Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Sarfaraz Khan depart early to leave India reeling against New Zealand

New Zealand took prized scalps of India captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Sarfaraz Khan to leave the hosts in a spot of bother on Day 2. Tim Southee cleaned up Rohit for just two runs, while William O'Rourke and Matt Henry sent back Kohli and Sarfaraz for ducks, respectively.

At the time of writing, the hosts are 13/3 after 12.4 overs and rain has interrupted play, with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant at the crease.

The Rohit Sharma-led side are coming into this series on the back of a 2-0 series win against Bangladesh. They will look to continue their purple patch ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy later this year.

On the other hand, New Zealand lost to Sri Lanka by the same margin. Following the series, Tim Southee stepped down as skipper. Tom Latham is leading the Kiwis in the ongoing three-match Test series in India.

The two teams had last locked horns in a two-match Test series in 2021-22, where India emerged victorious by a 1-0 margin. The Kiwis have never won a Test series in India.
