Young all-rounder Musheer Khan joined his Irani Cup-winning Mumbai side with a neck brace in their felicitation ceremony at the Wankhede Stadium organized by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). Musheer fractured his neck in a horrific road accident while traveling from his hometown Azamgarh to the venue of the match in Lucknow.

Ranji Trophy champions Mumbai beat a strong Rest of India (ROI) side by a first-innings lead and earned their first Irani Cup title in 27 years. Sarfaraz Khan, Musheer's elder brother, scored a brilliant 222 in the first innings to set up a big total before spinners kept ROI down to 416. Mumbai batted for the rest of the match to hold onto a draw.

Here's a clip from the felicitation ceremony where Musheer can be seen standing in red on the left:

After the match, Sarfaraz, who made his India debut earlier this year, shared he told Musheer that if he crossed 50, he'd make a double century, and one 100 would be for his brother. He won the Player of the Match for his performance.

Although he missed the Irani Cup, Musheer played a huge role in Mumbai's journey to the competition. The 19-year-old was the biggest difference-maker, winning the Player of the Match awards in the quarter-final and the final while also contributing with the ball in only his second season.

He's now expected to miss the initial phase of the 2024-15 Ranji Trophy as he recovers from injury.

"This game is not for individuals" - Mumbai captain Ajinkya Rahane

At the felicitation ceremony, Mumbai captain Ajinkya Rahane spoke about his philosophy and success with India and his state as captain.

"There is no secret to success. I am a firm believer of the thought that this game is not for individuals, there are 11 players playing and 4-5 are sitting outside. All the players are equally important,” Rahane was quoted as saying by PTI.
“As a captain it is important to give them freedom and confidence because every player in their own capacity is a match-winner. Every player has a responsibility. Those sitting outside can give such inputs which as a captain on the field might not think of,” he added.

At the ceremony, MCA awarded the team ₹1 crore in addition to the BCCI's prize money of ₹50 lakh.
