Mukesh Kumar starred with the ball for the Rest of India against Mumbai in the ongoing Irani Cup at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Day 3 (Thursday, October 3). The pacer dismissed M Juned Khan to bundle out Mumbai and complete his five-wicket haul in the match. Mukesh also took the wickets of Prithvi Shaw, Ayush Mhatre, Hardik Tamore, and Shams Mulani.

Mukesh unlocked his fifer in the 141st over of Mumbai’s innings. The speedster bowled a length ball at the stumps and Juned failed to defend it as the off-stump was uprooted. The right-handed batter walked back for an 11-ball duck.

Mukesh was equally brilliant in the 2024 Duleep Trophy, bagging 15 wickets, including two five-wicket hauls. The 30-year-old, however, was not part of the Indian squad for the recently concluded two Tests against Bangladesh. He has played three Tests, picking up seven wickets.

Mukesh Kumar’s last appearance for India came in the T20I series in Zimbabwe in July. He picked up eight wickets in three matches, including 4/22. Interestingly, he didn’t find a place during the T20I series in Sri Lanka. In white-ball internationals, Mukesh Kumar has bagged 20 wickets in 17 T20Is and five scalps in six ODIs, respectively.
